Below are the December Netflix rankings for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the U.K. and Ireland. As we announced last month, we will publish these on a monthly basis going forward.
Our 30 million members view over a billion hours of Netflix per month and we use all of the data associated with their experiences to compare ISPs in terms of real world performance.
These ratings reflect the average performance of all Netflix streams on each ISP. The average is well below the peak performance due to many factors including home Wi-Fi, the variety of devices our members use, and the variety of encodes we use to deliver the TV shows and movies we carry. Those factors cancel out when comparing across ISPs, so these relative rankings are a good indicator of the consistent performance typically experienced across all users on an ISP network and a great way to see which ISPs offer the best Netflix experience.

You’ve been enjoying Netflix in the UK and Ireland for a full year now! Thank you!
When we launched last year, we promised to bring you, our subscribers, a service that provided compelling content, available when you wanted, where you wanted, instantly. We also promised to grow the TV series and feature films available on the service. We were thrilled in July when we crossed the million member mark, reminding us that this is a service that delights so many of you, and keeping us focused on improving the service each and every day.
12 months later, we take a moment to look back on the biggest improvements over the last year. We doubled the feature films and TV series available on the service. We’ve added great new TV series like Vampire Diaries, Sons of Anarchy, Blue Planet, Modern Family, Archer, Downton Abbey, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and LOST, and feature films like 21 Jump Street, Woman in Black, Horrid Henry, Iron Man 2, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Drive, The Untouchables, The Iron Lady, Machine Gun Preacher, and The Last Airbender.
And that’s not it. You can look forward to watching The Hunger Games, Thor, Rango, Magic Mike, Gossip Girl, The Tudors, Fringe and Justified all in 2013. And, we can’t wait to bring you Season 1 of House of Cards, a Netflix Original Series starring Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara, and produced by David Fincher. All episodes arrive on February 1 and you don’t want to miss it!
We also made lots of improvements to your experience when using Netflix. We added devices including the Wii U and Kindle Fire, added new functionality like post-play and a recently added row, and launched improved UI and playback experiences on Android, iPhone and Windows 8 operating system.
We can’t wait for all that is coming in 2013. Get ready for another amazing year!
